Each year, exceptionally kind individuals, many of them on our staff, cover approximately half that gap through thousands of dollars in donations. And each year the Sirens auction and bookstore raise thousands more dollars to cover the rest of that gap. In other words, the generosity of our donors, and funds from our auction and bookstore, are necessary to making Sirens, a space that discusses and celebrates the remarkable women of fantasy literature, real.
And you can help. Here’s how.
Each year, Sirens raises thousands of dollars in monetary donations. If you support Sirens’s mission of providing an annual space for discussion of women in fantasy literature and you are able to give financially, we hope that you will seriously consider making a monetary donation. Every little bit helps, and we are happy to accept donations in any amount.
We also accept donation checks and money orders; please make them out to “Sirens,” write “donation” in the memo line, and mail them to us at Sirens, c/o Narrate Conferences, P.O. Box 149, Sedalia, Colorado 80135.
All donations go directly to Sirens, and Sirens uses donations exactly the same way it uses registration proceeds: to purchase conference items from keynote meals to printer ink, and from conference t-shirts to program books.

Perhaps Sirens has a particular program that interests you. Or perhaps a friend or family member has been accepted to present at Sirens. You can show your support with a sponsorship! The cost is $35 per presentation, and assuming we have your sponsorship by August 15, 2016, we will include your name next to your chosen topic both on our website and in our program book for this year’s conference. Each year, Sirens holds an auction of a wide array of items of interest to our attendees: manuscript or query letter critiques, custom and original artwork, signed books and advance reader copies, works of skilled craftsmanship, jewelry, and more. Through this auction, Sirens raises the funds necessary to cover approximately 20% of its annual expenses. In 2012, Narrate Conferences, the 501(c)(3) charitable organization that presents Sirens, began offering a bookstore during Sirens. We spend three months each year conducting extensive research and hand-selecting over 1,000 books to make available during Sirens: amazing fantasy works written by amazing women about amazing women—as well as amazing fantasy works by authors of other genders about amazing women. The bookstore’s proceeds, of course, support Sirens.
Sirens attendees can support Sirens by supporting the Narrate Bookstore. We operate a section dedicated to gently used fantasy books by or about women, stocked entirely by friends of Sirens. We also have people who want to make sure that our bookstore has certain new books or who just like to help us out by covering some of the costs of purchasing those new books. Narrate Conferences, Inc., the presenting organization behind Sirens, is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Therefore, all donations to Sirens—whether monetary or in-kind—are eligible for tax deduction in accordance with U.S. law.
