Skamania Lodge, located in Stevenson, Washington, is the official location of Sirens in 2012. Nestled in the spectacular Columbia River Gorge, Skamania overlooks both the river and surrounding forests, and is still only a 45-minute drive from the Portland International Airport. For the curious, "skamania" is a Chinook word meaning "swift water."

Skamania was built in the style of Pacific Northwest lodges, so you can expect both a cozy, friendly atmosphere and a stunning lobby complete with rocking chairs and a fireplace. The resort offers guest rooms with either forest or river views, and a health club, a pool and hot tub, and wireless Internet access are all included in your resort fee. The property features a spa, as well as hiking trails right on site, if you would like to take a quiet break while on property. A U.S. Forest Service outpost can direct you to other outdoor hiking nearby.

While attendees are not required to stay at Skamania, we encourage you to do so. The resort has reserved a block of guest rooms at a very low rate for Sirens's attendees. By staying at our official hotel, you help us meet our financial obligations to the resort so that we can keep the cost of attending Sirens as low as possible.

Sirens attendees are welcome to stay at the Skamania Lodge at the following rates, beginning the night of October 7, 2012, and ending the night of October 16, 2012:

	Single occupancy:		$129
	Double occupancy:		$139
	Triple occupancy:		$149
	Quad occupancy:		$159

Deluxe rooms and suites will be available at a higher (but still discounted) rate. Room rates are subject to tax (sales tax is currently 7% and occupancy tax is currently 2%). Skamania does require a $14 per room/per night resort fee, which covers your access to the health club, the outdoor pool and hot tub, wireless Internet access in much of the resort, access to three hiking trails, bike rentals, tennis and basketball court time, coffee and tea in the main lobby, local and toll-free telephone calls, and parking, among other amenities.

Guest rooms feature such comforts as pillow-topped mattresses, terrycloth bathrobes, bath products from the resort's spa, in-room coffee and tea, hair dryers, a mini-refrigerator, ample storage space, and windows that open. The front desk clerks and concierge are available around the clock. Two dining options, casual and high-end, are available on site, and several restaurants and bars are a mile's walk away in Stevenson.

Reservations

Because Skamania Lodge is a resort, its reservation and guarantee policies are slightly different than most hotels. Please read the following carefully before making your reservation:

• All reservations for Skamania must be made no later than September 18, 2012.
• At the time you make your reservation, you must provide either one night's payment or a valid credit card guarantee.
• On September 19, 2012, all reservations must have paid for at least one night. If you provided a credit card guarantee, your credit card will be charged for one night on September 19, 2012.
• If you wish to cancel your reservation, you must do so by September 18, 2012. If you do not, you will be charged for your entire stay.
• After September 18, 2012, you may reserve a new room or alter your reservation only with Skamania's permission.
